Why is there no judgment for me? (from the GUIDE book)
Because divine judgment fell on Christ, who died on the cross, as my substitute,
for me a sinner. For example, if I make a mistake for which the fine is 100 pounds and I am bankrupt (penniless), what can I do, since justice has to take place? Then
a friend who loves me steps in and pays the full amount of the fine. In this way, justice has been executed and I am released without judgment. My innocent friend paid the fine on my behalf, the offender. Thus, Christ says: “he
who believes...shall not come into judgment” (John 5:24). Judgment here is without “the” which means any kind of judgment.
